The Intermountain Regional Medical Program received a grant in 1974 from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for the establishment of multi-community emergency medical networks which would provide central telephone numbers to be used in an emergency. This collection contains grant applications and correspondence concerning the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant, as well as material from the Governor's Emergency Medical Services Council and the Utah State Division of Health.

The Intermountain Regional Medical Program was established in 1967 as part of the federal Regional Medical Program. The University of Utah served as the grantee institution and kept the Program's records.
